Parents and Students of the Silver Lake Elementary,
I hope you all are doing well and taking advantage of this beautiful weather and get out into the fresh air and to soaking up some sunshine, remembering to keep social distancing of course.
This past week I held Grade Level Team meetings with all our teachers next year through Zoom Meeting. It was great to have the chance to visit with them, to see how they are doing and to go over important information for next year. They are doing well and are super excited for next year and our new school. I’m thrilled by the quality of teachers we have. They’re so great.
We are still in the process of hiring a School Counselor, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Specialty Teacher, (this is pending a grant approval), a Preschool Teacher, a Life Skills Teacher, and an Office Assistant. All other teacher positions are filled to this point.
Seeing as the Alpine School District has canceled the Summer Clear Creek program this year due to COVID-19, I spoke with our 5th Grade teachers, who were scheduled next spring to go to Clear Creek in April, and they have agreed to allow next year’s 6th Graders to go to Clear Creek either in-lieu of 5th Grade or overlapping the three-day schedule with 5th Grade. That way this year’s 5th Graders will get the opportunity to have the Clear Creek experience. More information will follow in the fall.
The school is coming along nicely. Here are pictures I took last week during the weekly construction meeting.
