Parents and Students of Silver Lake Elementary,
WE DID IT! We successfully opened with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Back to School Night, and had a great first week. There were plenty of wrinkles we had to iron being a new school and all and still more to do but I have no doubt that even with the challenges that this COVID environment brings, we will prevail.
Kindergarten and Preschool: Kindergarten and Preschool Open House is tomorrow the 24th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. In order to continue to social distance, you can sign up to come in to meet the teachers, see the classrooms, meet our PTA, and wander throughout the school.

Kindergarten and preschool start times this week are listed below.
Track Tags: As you know we have implemented a 1st – 3rd grade Track Tag protocol so at a glance we can make sure that students are going home at the right time. This is along with the roll taking prior to allowing the A Track kiddos from leaving the classroom. We have also brief the Crossing Guard on this so they can help us keep track too. If you choose not to have your child’s back pack be tagged, that is certainly your choice. We only ask that you notify your student(s) teacher so we are aware of your wishes and we don’t keep replacing tags. For kinder and preschool they will have different tags for walkers and riders.
PTA Spirit Swag & Hoodies: PTA is still taking orders for hoodies, stickers, and lanyards. They will be taking them until August 31st. Please visit the website silverlake-pta.square.site to order your Silver Lake Swag!
School Shirts & Masks: For those of you who have ordered additional school shirts and mask, please be patient with us, we are experiencing a glitch with taking payments right now. We will let you know when the system is fixed.
Oh the joys of a new school.
Safety Week: This week is Safety Week. We will be doing a Fire Drill, Earthquake Drill, and a Lock-Down Drill. These drills will not be a surprise this time as we want to train the students on what to do, not test them, yet. Here is our school’s Emergency Procedures so you’re aware of what we have emplace to keep everyone safe. Extracurricular Activities: I’ve been asked about Extracurricular Activities like, Band, Orchestra, and Choir etc. We certainly want to start these enrichment classes as soon as possible. We are in a wait and see mode right now with school starting amidst this pandemic. If we don’t see a spike in COVID cases in Utah County in the next few weeks, we will consider starting some of her classes. Some classes could start sooner than later like a Coding Class and a Language Class but others like Choir, Ballroom and a School Play, etc. may need to start further down the road but rest assured, we want to offer these opportunities to students as soon a reasonably possible.
Staff Birthdays: Please join me in wishing Mr. Hoggan our Custodian on Thursday and Miss Tijerino on Friday a very Happy Birthday. Let’s show them some love.
Remember, if there is anything we can help you with, please feel free to let us know.
GO COYOTES!
