Parents and Students of Silver Lake Elementary,
I hope you all are having a wonderful long weekend and that you enjoy the Labor Day holiday with your family. Don’t forget there is no school tomorrow.
Virtual Assembly: We will be doing a Virtual Assembly on Wednesday the 9th at 9:30 AM. Those students are doing their learning online or parents who want to watch it will receive a link to view the recorded assembly later that day.
Picture Day: We have our Picture Day on Thurs the 10th. Those students who are learning online and want to come in to get their picture taken can do so at 12:30 PM. We will be in the gym on the stage. The picture order form should have gone home with your students on Fri. If not, they will be sent home by Tuesday.
9/11 – Patriot’s Day: On Friday the 11th it will be the 19th anniversary of the attacks in New York City. We will be doing two flag-raising ceremonies for the students in front of the school by the flag pole. We are doing this twice so we can maintain social distancing. The first ceremony will be at 9:30 AM and the second one to follow afterward. We have invited local law enforcement officers, and have been trying to reach local firefighters to attend as we honor all the men and women who put their lives on the line on that faithful day to save the lives of others and to honor them for protecting us each day since. We would also like to honor our military for doing the same and invite any parents of our students, who are currently serving in the military, to join us in uniform for the ceremonies as well. If there are any parents or other relatives who are currently serving in the military and would be able to participate, please email me. We invite all students to wear Red, White, and/or Blue for this day.
Coyote Corner Store: This Friday, Sept. 11, the PTA will have a grand opening of our school store, the “Coyote Corner.” This is an opportunity for students and parents to support the PTA, and also gives the kids a chance to come and shop for school spirit apparel and other fun items! The store will be open in room 147 right after school (1:15 for A track and 2:30 for B track.) If your student wants to shop, please send cash in a Ziploc bag with their name on it. Parent-Teacher Conference: Just to get this on your calendars, we will be doing our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences on the 7th and 8th of October. We will be doing a hybrid version of face to face or an online meeting if parents would prefer not to come in to meet face to face with their kiddos teachers. More information will come on this. We will also have the Book Fair open during that week.
Fall Break: Fall Break is the 15th and 16th of October with a Teacher Professional Development Day on the 19th.
We’ve had a great start to the school year. I’m excited to see what other amazing things will occur this year.
