Weekly Memo May 2, 2021

Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,

Can you believe that we only have 4 weeks of school left?  It is crazy how fast this year has gone by.  Although we face some challenges this year, I would say that with everyone’s positive, “Can Do” spirit, we have climbed mountains.  Next year will be even more amazing especially seeing COVID in the review mirror.  We will be able to do more and have greater flexibility.  It will be grand.

RISE Tests:  All grades, 3rd – 6th, will be doing their end of testing this week and for the next two weeks.

Battle of the Books Week:  This week we will be doing our Battle of the Books competitions.  We are not participating in the District competition this year but will be next year.  3rd Grade battles will be on Tuesday, 4th grade on Thursday and 5th & 6th on Friday in the gym.  Because we are using the gym, we will be doing outside lunches on those days, weather permitting.

PTA Meeting:  The PTA has a meeting on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.

Student Council:  Student Council Applications for next year will be going out to the students and will need to be returned by Friday the 7th no later than by 2:30 PM.  No Exceptions.

Kinder KEEP Testing:  Parents of Kinder Kiddos, don’t forget that there will be no school for your kinder students during the week of the 10th except when you bring your kiddo in for their end of year testing.  The kinder teachers will be setting up their testing schedule.

End of Year Activities:  By way of information, we will have some end of year activities this year but not all we would normally have as we are still adhering to current COVID guidelines.  We will be doing Field Day on the 25th of May, a 6th Grade activity off campus and an Evening of Celebration on the 26th, a last day of school Clap Out on the 27th and a Minimal Day as well.  Other activities like a Dance Festival, 6th Grade vs Faculty Kickball (or Wacko Ball) game, a Munch & Mingle lunch with your kiddos, etc. will be saved for next year.

Student Birthday on Marquee:  Parents can pay to have their student’s name pop-up on our outside digital marquee on their birthday.  Please give us a couple of days to get it up, especially if it is over the weekend. We try hard to check every day and we do not want to miss anyone’s birthday if payment is made within a day or two of the actual birthday.  The cost is $5.00 to be paid online.  The instructions are below.
