Parents,
Well, we are just eight days until the first day of the 2021-2022 school year. I am thrilled about our second year as a school. It will be an AMAZING year. Below are few items that I need to make sure you are aware of so we can start the year right.
Return to Learn Plan (COVID): Now that the District has officially notified you of their Return to Learn Plan with regards to the ongoing pandemic, I want to reaffirm what we will be doing at Silver Lake to do our best to keep all students, staff, and visitors safe and healthy. The following is our general school plan.
- Although masks are not mandatory, we certainly will support any who feel the need to continue to wear masks, as we want them to feel comfortable within the school. We will have plenty of masks available if needed in the future due to a change in conditions, as may be required.
- We will continue to do deep sanitization on all touchpoints and classrooms daily.
- Lunchroom sanitization will take place after each class exits the lunchroom.
- Hand sanitization stations will be in place as they were last year.
- Although there is a bit of easing of social distancing, we will continue to be vigilant and will be an advocate where possible.
- We will track close contacts when any exposures occur and will notify those affected.
- Isolation and quarantining will be made based on guidance from the Health Department.
- Lunchboxes are okay, however, breakfasts and lunches are free of charge again this year.
- Although the school will not be able to provide online learning as it will be provided by the District, we will support any student out due to illness or quarantining for the short time they are out.
- Any student or staff that comes to school not feeling well will be sent home until they are feeling better. We ask that if your child is exhibiting any of the COVID symptoms or other illnesses, please keep them home to mitigate any exposure.
We understand that we are still in a pandemic and that we still need to be vigilant and proactive. We also feel that it is vitally important that we continue to provide the best learning environment and opportunities for all students to grow and succeed academically and social/emotionally. This is what we are committed to doing.
Class Assignment: Don’t forget that tomorrow on the 5th, you will be able to access the Parents Portal to see who your child(ren)’s teacher is. Please refer to Mrs. Michaelis’ email from Monday for the instructions on how to access the portal.

Back to School Event: Don’t forget our Back to School Event on Monday the 16th from 4-6:00 PM. Here is a flyer about the event. Next week, we will send you a Back to School Event signup form for you to meet with your kiddo’s teachers. Back to School Flier 2021.pdf
Time Capsule: We will be burying a time capsule this fall to commemorate our first year as a school. We will do it during the day so all of our students can participate and we will fill the capsule with items from our first year to include letters and artwork from students. The capsule will be opened in the 2030 school year. How cool is that? I actually have a personal goal to stay alive until then so I can be there for the event.
Love & Logic Course: Lehi City is offering a Love & Logic Parenting course. If you or someone you know is struggling with relationships with your/their children and with behavioral concerns, this course is great to help parents gain new insights, ideas, and tools to improve their relationship with their children and improve challenging behaviors.
