Weekly Memo Jan. 16 – 20

Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,

I hope you’re enjoying a nice long weekend.

Martin Luther King Day: Don’t forget that tomorrow the 16th is MLK Day and there is no school.

Spring Musical Theater Review:  Auditions for our Musical Review is on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.

Pop Top Drive:  The Pop Top Drive will end this Friday, the 20th.  The class that brought in the most by weight will get a party.

Early Out Day due to the Reunification Drill:  This Friday the 20th, students will be released to go home at 2:30 PM, but not Preschool and Life Skills students or those students whose parents signed up to help with the reunification drill.  If your kiddos are picked up each day by their daycare, please make sure the daycare knows of this schedule change.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Our next PTC is coming up next month on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th.  Conference sign-ups will be sent to you later this month.  We will also have the Book Fair open during the conferences as well.

WLHS Community Connection & Support Night:  Westlake High School is having another Community, Connection & Support Night on January 30th.  See this flyer for more information:  Community Flyer 8.5 x11 PNG .png and Spanish Community Flyer 18 x24 PNG .png

A.L.L. (Gifted & Talented) Program:  The District has made a change to the A.L.L. structure. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, the elementary A.L.L. program will be offered for students in 4th-6th grades, with identification testing beginning in 3rd grade. The 3rd grade A.L.L. classrooms at Foothill, Highland, and Saratoga Shores will be discontinued at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.  Because of this change, they will NOT be holding A.L.L. testing for 2nd graders this year. Next year, they will hold testing for your 3rd graders.
