Weekly Memo April 25 – 29

Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,

Thank you so much for all your kindness and support during our Teacher Appreciation Week.  It truly was a great week and a HUGE thanks goes out to our awesome PTA for spearheading the week.

Fundraiser:  Our fundraiser ended on Friday and we reached our goal of $10,000.00.  Thank you so much for all the support and generous donations.

No Student Day:  Our next No Student Day is tomorrow, Monday the 25th.  There is no school for students as the teachers will be doing professional development.  Lunches will not be provided.

Battle of the Books:  Our Battle of the Books will be this week.

Secretary’s Appreciation Day:  Wednesday the 27th is Secretary’s Appreciation Day.  Please join us in showing the utmost appreciation for all our AMAZING secretaries do for Silver Lake Elementary.

Art Night:  Our first Arts Night will be this Wednesday the 27th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  We are starting half an hour later than what was previously advertised.  The halls will have artwork from your students.  We will also have performances from the Orchestra, Choir, 5th and 6th-grade Musical Theater group, and our award-winning ballroom team.  Come see your students “Shine”.  See this attached poster.  Arts night.jpg

Munch & Mingle:  On Friday the 29th we will have our first Munch & Mingle.  This is when parents and families can come to eat lunch with their kiddos during their scheduled lunch time.  We will not be able to accommodate adjusting students’ lunch schedules so please plan accordingly and spread out your lunch with your kids if they have different lunchtimes.  You can either do picnic-style lunch on the grass west of the gym (we will have safety staff in place for those crossing the parking lot) or you can eat in the lunchroom or on the playground.  At my former schools, parents brought lunches to enjoy with their kiddos.  Students can still get school lunch if they so desire. Bring blankets to sit on and come and enjoy this fun activity.  If the weather is poor, we will move into the gym and lunchroom.

Below is the schedule for all of the grade-level lunches.

*These times are when the last class in the grade is to be at the lunchroom, so please plan to be at SL a few minutes earlier.  Also, please make sure your student(s) know if you are able to come or not.  You can meet them outside the lunchroom on the west side.

Lifeskills = 11:30 AM

6th Grade = 11:40 AM

3rd Grade = 11:50 AM

5th Grade = 12:00 PM

4th Grade = 12:10 PM

2nd Grade = 12:20 PM

1st Grade = 12:30 PM

Hope of America: The 5th grade will be participating in the Hope of America performance at BYU on the evening of May 4th.  How cool is that?

RISE Testing:  RISE Testing has begun.  We ask that you encourage your 3th-6th grade students to get a good night’s sleep and have a hearty breakfast on the morning of their tests.  Here is a copy of the testing schedule.

Have a great week!

Spirit Shirts:  If you want to buy a replacement school spirit shirt for your kiddos, you can go to the myschoolfees.com link below to purchase more shirts or pay in the office. They are $10.00 each.

The Birthday on Marquee:  Parents can pay to have their student’s name pop up on our outside digital marquee on their birthday.  Please give us a couple of days to get it up, especially if it is over the weekend. We try hard to check every day and we do not want to miss anyone’s birthday if payment is made within a day or two of the actual birthday.  The cost is $7.00 to be paid online.  The instructions are below in the Online Payment & Program Registration link.
