Weekly Memo November 20, 2023

Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,

In this season of Thanksgiving, I want to take this chance to express how thankful I am to be part of the Silver Lake Elementary community.  We certainly have wonderful teachers, staff, parents, and of course amazing students.  Thank you for sending us your precious children and trusting us to teach them, support them, and help them on the path to becoming lifelong learners and contributing citizens of our great nation.

Thanksgiving Break:  Don’t forget that Thanksgiving Break is the 22^nd – 24^th and there is no school.

Spring Musical: We are excited to announce our first full-length Spring Musical.  We will be performing Pirates the Musical.  Don’t be confused, this isn’t the one with Capt’n Jack.  This is for 3^rd-6^th Grade students and here is the flyer about auditions and rehearsals.   SL Theater – Pirates.pdf

Choir at Festival of the Trees:  We are excited for our Choir to perform this year at the Festival of the Trees on Friday the 1^st at 12:15 PM.

PTA Meeting:  The next PTA meeting is on the 6^th at 10:00 AM.

Ballroom, Choir & Orchestra Holiday Concert:  Our performing arts groups will have their holiday concert on Thursday the 7^th at 6:00 PM.

Town Hall Meeting:  Our School Board member, Julie King is having a Town Hall meeting on December 18^th about Accelerated Learner Lab (Gifted & Talented) and Dual Language programs for all who are interested.  Here is a flyer about the Town Hall meeting.  Town Hall ALL DLI Flyer.jpg

Holiday Sing:  Our Holiday Sing for parents will be on Tuesday the 19^th. Due to the number of parents and families attending, we will have two separate times that day for parents to come to see the Sing based on their kiddos’ last names.  The Sing for last names beginning A-K and all AM kindergarten & preschool students will be at 10:00 AM in the gym.  For those whose last names are L-Z and all PM kindergarten & preschool students, their Sing will be at 2:00 PM.  Both are in the gym.

Our Holiday Sing for the students will take place on the 20^th and it will be a common day for the kindergarteners so the PM kinder kiddos can participate in the school sing.  Both AM and PM kinder kiddos will attend the morning session from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM.

Minimal Day:  Our next Minimal Day will be on Thurs the 21^st.  Students will be released at 12:45 PM, lunches will be provided for those who want a bag lunch to take with them at the end of the day.  There is no school for Kindergarteners or Preschoolers on this day.

End of 2^nd Quarter:  Friday the 22^nd.
