Weekly Memo May 6, 2024

Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,

Fundraiser: Our fundraiser is ongoing until Friday the 10th.  Our goal is $10,000.00 for arts, performing arts, dual language literature, and science materials and supplies.  Attached here is a flyer about the fundraiser Donation Info Flyer 2024.pdf.  We really appreciate your support as we strive to provide more for our students.

Whole School Photo:  We will be taking another whole school photo on Tuesday morning.  Please have your kiddo(s) wear a school shirt or any other red, gray, black, or white shirt.  We will take the picture after the announcements at about 9:25 AM.  PM kinder and preschool students are welcome to come for the picture but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and will need to be taken home after the picture.  Check in the office when you arrive for the picture.

School Musical: We have 85 fantastic student performers appearing in our school play: Pirates! The Musical! It is likely that your students have friends or classmates performing, that they would love to come cheer on. Come make it a family night at the theater, and enjoy our journey through the rolicking seas! The show runs approximately 75 minutes with an intermission, so it’s an excellent introduction to theater for even our smallest buccaneers. CLICK HERE to buy tickets! The show sets sail Friday, May 10th, 11th, and 13th at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. We have 1 matinee performance on Saturday, May 11th at 1 pm, doors open at 12:30.

Students Not Returning Next Year: If you know that your student(s) will not be returning to Silver Lake Elementary next year, please fill out this form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf226V_aGSeDwhHQu83mTcuag6LEo8_oM16miHJuqRDjm1Uzg/viewform This information will help us with balancing our classes for next year. You do not need to fill this out for this year’s 6th graders.  Just a reminder with regards to next year’s classes, we do not do teacher requests.  The current teachers balanced the classes by number, gender, academic ability, behaviors, special education students, and English language learners so as to ensure that all students are able to learn at high levels.  If you have a concern with your child being in a class with another child or a teacher, please email me the concern.

Kindergarten KEEP Testing:  There will be no Kindergarten classes next week (13th – 17th) for end-of-year testing.

PTA Pop Top Drive:  Our PTA is sponsoring a Pop Top drive again starting tomorrow the 6th.  The class that brings in the most pop tops by weight will get ice cream sandwiches.  The pop tops will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House to help families who have children in the hospital.

Field Day: Field day is coming up on Wednesday, May 22nd and we need your help!!  Field day is divided into two parts. The morning group will consist of the kindergartners, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders and the time frame is 9:15 am-12 pm. The afternoon group will consist of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders and their time frame is 12:30-3:30 pm. As a volunteer, you can sign up for one session or both. You would be in charge of running one of the stations. All of the supplies for the games and the instructions of how to play are provided. You would just need to help each class that comes through play the game. Field day is such a fun and exciting day for the kids and they look forward to it every year. Please consider signing up so we can make it an awesome and memorable day for them! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084AADA72BA4FCC25-49188757-field
