Parents of Silver Lake Elementary Students,
Red Ribbon Week: The week is Red Ribbon Week. Our Counseling Team, Student Council, and PTA will have some fun themes and activities throughout this week to promote being drug-free and living healthy lifestyles. Here is a flyer for each day’s theme. Red Ribbon Week Flyer.png
Halloween Dress Up, Parade & Parties: Don’t forget our Halloween Parade is on Tuesday at 9:45 AM.
It will be in the gym with some overflow for parents in the main hallway west of the office. PM Kinder and Preschoolers are invited to come to school early to participate in the parade with the AM classes. Parents will need to take them home after the parade and bring them back for their PM session. Enter the gym through the southwest and west gym doors. Once the parade starts, the gym doors will be locked and you then can enter through the southwest door when facing the front of the school.
Parents staying to help with class parties after the parade will need to exit the school like everyone else and check in through the main office.
Halloween Costume Policy: Our Halloween policy is that students come to school already dressed in their costumes. The costumes have to be “G rated” and should not have excessive gore or be too disturbing for younger children. The costumes must meet the district and school’s dress code policy. No bare tummies, spaghetti straps, inappropriate pictures or sayings, etc.
Students should be able to work in their seats while wearing their costumes. No hoop skirts or boxes around them. Masks are okay for the parade but will not be allowed to be worn throughout the day. Inflatable costumes are okay for the parade but not for the rest of the day. Inflatable costumes that represent a semi-dressed individual, i.e: Captain Underpants or a sumo wrestler, etc. are not appropriate for school. There are NO weapons allowed of any kind. No guns for cowboys, or swords for pirates, etc. Nothing that could be used as a weapon or even to play fight with. Wands and broomsticks are okay for the parade but will need to be put away for the rest of the day. Students are not permitted out of class to put on face paint or to put on costumes.
PTA & SCC Meetings: The next PTA meeting and SCC Meeting will be on Wednesday the 1st at 10:00 AM for the PTA & 2:15 PM for the SCC. Anyone is welcome to attend.
WLHS Parent Prom: Westlake High School is sponsoring a Parent Prom night fundraiser. Here is a flyer about it. IMG_20231020_150343.jpg
Veteran’s Day Celebration: We will be celebrating Veteran’s Day on Friday the 10th this year. We invite all students and staff to dress nicer this day to honor our Nation’s Veterans. We will have an assembly at 2:30 PM and invite family members of our students and staff who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military to attend. Please let me know if guests will be attending and the number of those attending.
Make it a great week!
