Thank you so much for your prompt response, cooperation, and support today during our evacuation. Below is a synopsis of today’s events.
This morning at around 9:45, CO2 sensor alarms went off inside the school, and the building was evacuated. The Unified Fire Department investigated, and cleared the building for students to return.
At around 12:45pm, the CO2 sensor alarms went off again, and we evacuated the building for a second time. When the Unified Fire Department arrived, they advised district and school administration that the building would need to remain evacuated for the remainder of the day while a more thorough investigation was completed. At that point, we sent out a request for students to be picked up.
During their investigation, the Unified Fire Department found a small gas leak in the kitchen area, which set off the sensor alarms. The gas was turned off, and the space where the leak was contained has been aired out. Our physical facilities teams have repaired the leak. Students were never exposed to the area where the leak occurred.
Important Information:
School will resume as normal tomorrow.
Parent teacher conferences will be rescheduled. Details will be sent out tomorrow.
Our book fair will remain open tomorrow. It will be open for parents from 8:00 a.m.-9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
For essential items that were left in classrooms, the school will be open from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. this evening. All other belongings will be kept safe and locked in classrooms until tomorrow.
We are so grateful to our Silver Lake staff, students, and community members for your cooperation and your quick response, especially as we reunified students with their guardians and emergency contacts. We are also appreciative of the support that we received from our community from first responders, parents, PTA, local businesses, neighbors, and district personnel.
Thank you,
Principal Rincón
Silver Lake Elementary has been EVACUATED for the second time today due to sensors going off.
Students and staff are outside. Administrators will account for all students immediately.
Please do not call or come to the school.
We will send more information as it becomes available.

Families,
I wanted to give an update on our evacuation this morning. We had a sensor that went off in our building for our CO2 levels in the kitchen area a little before 10:00 a.m. As a precaution and per our protocol, we evacuated the building and called the fire department. After a thorough check of all areas in the school, the firefighters cleared us to go back into the building around 10:20 a.m.
We are grateful for the quick response of both our school faculty and the Unified Fire Department. Our number one goal is to keep children safe. That was definitely the case this morning. Our school day and lunch time is proceeding as normal. Thank you again for your support.
Mrs. Rincon
Silver Lake Elementary was briefly EVACUATED this morning due to an internal sensor going off. The Saratoga Springs Fire Department has cleared the building for re-entry, and the school day will continue as scheduled.

Mark your calendars... we will be having a clothing drive during Parent Teacher Conferences next week!

We are thrilled to host another Scholastic Book Fair from October 6th- October 9th here at Silver Lake! Our students can’t wait to shop for their favorite books and discover new ones. To continue to make this year’s Book Fair a success, we would love and appreciate the help of volunteers.
